COLUMBIA — KOMU 8 announced Monday it has purchased the mid-Missouri franchise of the Jefferson City-based Holos Network. The Holos Network is a free deal system that enables users to save money at local businesses without having to print coupons, and it offers two-way communication between consumers and the businesses they choose.

"We think the Holos Network is a great product and are looking forward to expanding its offerings under our ownership," said KOMU 8 General Manager Marty Siddall. "It differs from Groupon and Living Social in that it's local and there's not just one deal each day. Instead, users have more than 100 to choose from, any time."

The Holos Network employs both a web site and social media sites. Holos users can begin redeeming deals by ordering a card sent to their home or downloading the Holos Network app. Deals are advertised at www.holosnetwork.com and within the app. More than 100 local businesses offer deals on a regular basis.

"We are really excited to partner with KOMU 8 on this acquisition and what it means for the future of Holos in Mid-Missouri," said Holos President Marc Backes. "It really is a win/win for everyone involved and will allow us to focus on continued innovation and staying ahead in the ever-evolving deal space."

Current Holos users will not see a disruption of service. The Holos Network will continue to operate in the same fashion, under the same name. It will merely be the Holos Network powered by KOMU 8. KOMU.com added a link to the Holos Network for easy access.
