COLUMBIA -- The Mizzou volleyball program may be new to the Southeastern Conference, but it has already earned the respect of its peers as the Tigers placed two student-athletes on the Preseason All-SEC Team, which was released on Tuesday. Juniors Lisa Henning and Molly Kreklow were named to the nine-person All-SEC Preseason Team. Mizzou joined Kentucky and league-favorite Tennessee as the only teams to place two players on the All-SEC Preseason Team.

"For us coming into a new league, to have two players selected to the All-Conference team, it shows the respect that people have for Mizzou," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "I think people have really been impressed with the way that Molly and Lisa have played over the last two seasons - they have accomplished a lot here in those two seasons. But this is a preseason honor and we obviously have our sights set higher this season and hope to see both of them there at the end of the year."

Kreklow was the only setter named to the All-SEC Preseason Team after she led Mizzou with 1,353 assists last season, averaging 10.65 per set. She guided a Mizzou team that was made up of primarily freshmen and sophomores to the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season as well, guiding the team to a .234 attack percentage on the season. Kreklow also shined defensively for the Tigers in 2011, setting a Mizzou setter record with 307 digs while averaging 0.64 blocks per set.

"I am obviously thrilled to be named to the All-Conference team," Kreklow said. "There are so many good setters in this league and to be the only setter named to the team is very humbling and a great honor. Individual awards are always a reflection of a good team as well and I think the SEC coaches really showed a lot of respect by voting for both me and Lisa for the team. These awards create a lot of expectations for the season and I know we will do everything we can to live up to those expectations." Henning was the Tigers' top offensive weapon in 2011 as she became the program's sixth AVCA All-American and first underclassman to earn All-America accolades. After finishing the season with a school record 523 kills on .246 hitting, she was named to the AVCA All-America Third Team and was a unanimous All-Big 12 selection. She led the Big 12 in kills and points in league play, becoming the first Tigers to ever lead that league in both categories. Henning was one of four outside hitters selected to the team.

"I am very humbled by being named to the All-SEC team,' Henning said. "Not a lot of coaches in the SEC have seen Mizzou play a lot before, so to have them recognize myself and Molly as two of the nine best players in the league is pretty awesome. I think it shows the amount of respect Mizzou has too; to go into a new league and make that big of an impact say a lot about our program."

Henning and Kreklow are the senior members of the Mizzou volleyball team despite both being just juniors this season. The duo comprised PrepVolleyball.com's No. 14 recruiting class in 2009 and the Tigers are starting to reap the benefits as those two players continue to improve at Mizzou.
