COLUMBIA -- The Columbia College Lady Cougars defeated American Midwest Conference (AMC) foe Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday in the Arena of Southwell Complex, posting their third straight victory. Columbia defeated the Trojans 72-67 to improve to 15-7 on the season and 5-1 versus conference opponents. Hannibal drops to 13-9 overall and 3-3 in the AMC.

With today's victory, Columbia senior Kirsti Wilkerson is the seventh Lady Cougar to join the Century Club with 100 victories in her career. Since 2008, Wilkerson and the Lady Cougars have 100 wins and just 24 losses, including a 49-5 record in AMC play.

Columbia's 10-0 run to start the contest didn't faze the visiting Trojans, as they put together a run of their own, starting a back-and-forth battle for the rest of the game. The teams would trade the lead 10 times in 40 minutes with the biggest lead belonging to the Lady Cougars when they were up 11 midway through the second half. Leading 31-29 at the break, Columbia outscored Hannibal by three in the second half to take the five-point victory.

Columbia outrebounded the Trojans 40-32 and shot 13 more free-throws than Hannibal.

Sophomore Heather English led her squad with 22 points and nine rebounds. Airelle Eldridge and Ashley Fisher connected for 18 points apiece. Julie Teeple also had nine rebounds and four assists while Tierney Seifert dished out five assists.

The Lady Cougars return to the court on Thursday, February 2 when they travel to St. Louis to take on Harris-Stowe State University. Game time is set for 5:30 P.M.
