Lady Vikings Volleyball Takes Doubleheader

MARSHALL, Mo. -- The Missouri Valley College women's volleyball team won both their matches Thursday evening at the Lindenwood-Belleville Triangular.

In the first match of the night the Lady Vikings defeated Oakland University 25-22, 28-30, 25-21, 25-16. Leading the way for MVC was Junior Outside Hitter Ana Calito who finished with a double-double of 13 kills and 12 digs, to go along with three aces. Junior Middle Blocker Jada Hollinshead had 13 kills, while Junior Setter Claire Lorenz added 18 digs.

In the second match of the night, the Lady Vikings fought from behind after losing the first game to take the match 20-25, 27-25, 28-26, 25-17. Helping the Lady Vikings to the victory was Sophomore Middle Blocker Megan Hardin who finished with with 10 kills and four blocks, while Senior Libero Jessica Gates added 21 total digs.

In the two matches combined, Junior Setter Tarrah Sweet finished with 83 total assists.

The two wins improve the women's volleyball record to 8-9 on the season. Up next for the Lady Vikings is a home conference match with Baker University Tuesday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Burns Athletics Center.
