Lake Cleanup Continues
Taylor also said Forever Resorts wants to limit damage from spilled fuel.
"As soon as we got the boats out, we deployed our 300 feet of containment boom around there with some absorbant pads," he said.
The pads attached to the booms are designed to prevent them from taking on water, instead absorbing only oil and petroleum.
"And we dispose of those in special barrels that are hauled away, and we replace those pads," Taylor added. "And we'll do that every day or so, depending on how much we've soaked up into those pads."
The marina estimates that only a small amount of fuel leaked into the lake, just a few gallons Taylor estimated.
"It takes a very little bit of gasoline to contaminate and to be a problem to a very large amount of water," responded Kerry Cordray, spokesman for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources which is coordinating other clean-up efforts at the Lake of the Ozarks.
