Lake of the Ozark tornado touchdowns confirmed

Two confirmed tornado touchdowns from Saturday's storm at the Lake of the Ozarks.

MORGAN COUNTY - The National Weather Service (NWS) from Springfield, Missouri has conducted a review of damage in extreme southeastern Morgan County. The results come after storms blew through areas along and south of I-70 on Saturday, May 27th as had been forecast for multiple days.

Two EF-1 tornado touchdowns have been confirmed by the NWS. Both happened only a mile apart in the extreme southeastern corner of Morgan county within the Lake of the Ozarks. One confirmation was a mile north of Sunrise Beach. This includes a path 90 yards wide and estimated 90 mph winds. Trees were uprooted.

The second was a mile further north-northeast from the first and two miles NNE of Sunrise Beach. In this case the observed path was 300 yards wide and sustained damage to a roof of a building as well as uprooting trees. Winds were once again estimated around 90 mph. 

Both occurred around 2:38 p.m. and were on the ground for only a brief time. No injuries were reported.

Elsewhere in Missouri, there were multiple reports of trees and power lines down after winds between 60-90 mph blew through the southern half of the state. Thousands were without power at times during this severe weather event. Four more tornadoes were confirmed in Laclede County, Missouri along and south of Interstate 44. All have been pronounced as EF-1 tornadoes.

The Enhanced Fujita (EF) Scale goes from 0 to 5, from least damaging to devastatingly damaging.
