COLUMBIA - Tuesday marked the last day to file taxes as people filed into the Postal Office on Walnut Street downtown Columbia.
The Post Office is open until 7 p.m. but the automated machine in the lobby stays open all night.
Employees that normally work behind the scenes were up-front in the lobby to help out with the rush of last-minute taxpayers. Customer Relations Coordinator, Howard Hutton, said the rush was less overwhelming than in the past.
For those who aren't able to pay their taxes on time, or need more time, Andrew Zumwalt, of the Department of Personal Financial Planning says a 4868 form could be used to apply for a 6-month extension.
