COLUMBIA - The Environment and Energy committee met to discuss a blinding problem at the 5th and Walnut parking garage. This is the only garage with LED lights. They are used to save energy. The committee says residents are complaining about the brightness of the lights. The problem occurs when drivers navigate around the garage. The committee proposes buying shields to help drivers see better in the garage. If the shields are successful, officials will see if the LED lights save enough money to warrant putting them in other garages.
