Lincoln Finishes in Top 25 Percent of Division II Programs

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Lincoln University polished off its 2013-14 athletic season ranked in the top 25 percent of all Division II programs.  The rankings are in the final Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings released on June 4.

Lincoln finished with 313.25 points to rank 58th out of the 246 NCAA Division II institutions, helped out largely by the LU women's track & field team claiming the outdoor national championship. The Blue Tigers gathered 145 points during the winter sports season, and tacked on another 168.25 points in the spring. Points are assigned based on finishes in NCAA national championship tournaments or events.

The Blue Tigers had the sixth-best finish out of the 14 programs that make up the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Central Missouri led all conference teams with a third-place finish after raking in 653.75 points. Lindenwood finished 23rd (472.00) and Nebraska-Kearney finished 33rd (425.25), while Southwest Baptist (37th, 398.75) and Emporia State (54th, 326.50) were the only other league programsthat finished ahead of Lincoln.
