Lincoln Football Team Begins Season Against Lindenwood
JEFFERSON CITY -- The Lincoln football team opens its 2012 campaign on Saturday when the Blue Tigers welcome Lindenwood to Dwight T. Reed Stadium for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
It will mark the first of 11 consecutive MIAA games for the Blue Tigers, who, for the first time in program history, are playing an entirely league schedule. This is just the second time in Lincoln's 82-season history that the Blue Tigers will open a season against a league opponent. The only other time was in 1989, when LU fell to Missouri Southern, 24-9.
It will be a game of firsts all-around, as Lincoln will have the honor of being Lindenwood's first opponent as a member of the MIAA. The Lions are one of four teams that are joining the conference for the 2012-13 season. This will also be the first meeting between Lincoln and Lindenwood.
