NEW ORLEANS - The Lincoln University track and field teams made several moves in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings for the 2011 outdoor track & field season. The women made a three-position upward move to No. 1, while the men jumped seven spots to take over second.

For the women, it is the first time they have been ranked as the nation's top outdoor team using the current ranking procedure. In addition, their 4.56-point lead over No. 2 Grand Valley State is the slimmest margin recorded for the national outdoor rankings since the process began last year.

The men are just 13.94 points behind Abilene Christian for the top spot and hold a 56.3 point lead over the next closest MIAA competitor in Central Missouri.

Lincoln will return to action this Saturday in Fayette when they will compete in the Asics Classics.
