COLUMBIA - The SEC Community Service Team announced Mizzou volleyball player Lisa Henning as its new member on Tuesday.
This senior is one of 12 student-athletes the Community Service Team selected from various schools in the SEC.
Besides volleyball, the SEC recognizes 20 other league-sponsored sports with Community Service Teams.
Henning is acknowledged for her extensive time and efforts spent giving back to the community. Not only has she been actively involved this year, but she also volunteered throughout her time as a Tiger, and during high school.
Some of the many projects she has served include visiting the MU Children's Hospital to spend time with sick children, teaching volleyball to children in a youth clinic, visiting local retirement communities such as Boone Landing and Lenoir Retirement Homes, organizing a beach party for local kids at Wilson's Pool and giving them free volleyball lessons.
Henning also has been working with the local Girl Scouts program, spending time with children at Going Bonkers, participating in a Columbia Mall Meet-and-Greet in conjunction with MU Children's Hospital, teaching volleyball classes to elementary school children through the Mizzou volleyball elementary youth leagues, and has been reaching out to college students at a Campus View Volleyball Tournament.
