Local Manufacturing Company Plans to Increase Hiring
AUXVASSE - President Obama will deliver his State of the Union Address Tuesday night and will promote the American dream, job creation and -- especially -- hiring in the U.S. manufacturing sector.
Local manufacturing company Seal-Rite has been manufacturing asphalt seal coating equipment since 1997. Last year was Seal-Rites second best sales year, said Vice President Andrea Seeley. Seal-Rite has only 16 employees but with sales numbers increasing, it will add three employees.
Although sales are high, the company is still concerned about outside costs.
"The most costly portion or detrimental portion to a manufacturing company is getting the products that we need to manufacture our products," Seeley said.
One employee, Caleb Marquette, said he feels fortunate to have a job but also believes in the American dream. Marquette has worked at Seal-Rite for three years and said he knows others in the manufacturing business that cannot find jobs.
Marquette said he would also like to see President Obama address ways to make America more competitive. Obama will speak to a joint congress Tuesday at 8pm. You can watch it on NBC and KOMU.
