Local radio station gives hundreds of toys to MU Children's Hospital
COLUMBIA - MU Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network receieved a room full of toys and a lot of holiday cheer thanks to the Q106.1 radio station, Concannon Plastic Surgery and Columbia Mall shoppers.
Hospital representatives arrived to the Q106.1 lobby on Tuesday to be greeted by a room full of toys for the children in the hospitial.
The toy haul contained everything from iTunes giftcards to fluffy stuffed animals. Hospital employees were overjoyed with the effort put into the toy drive. Katie Zimmer, a Children's Miracle Network event coordinator said she cannot thank everyone enough.
"It's really rewarding to see you know because a hospital can be a scary place so that anything that we can give these kids to kind of make it less scary and make it as fun as we possibly can, it helps overall in their treatment and them getting better and just to see a smile on their face," said Zimmer.
Radio host, Damon Knight said every year they get blown away by how generous people are.
"The idea of being able to fill their playrooms with toys throughout the entire year is really important to us," Knight said.
Along with toy rooms, the toys will go in the treatment rooms as well.
