COLUMBIA - The Armory Sports Center in Columbia hosted its seasonal K.E.Y. (Keep Embracing Youth) Lock-in for boys Friday night.
The event catered to the needs of pre-teen boys and girls in the community, and gave them an opportunity to express themselves in a safe environment. K.E.Y. creator Cameron Cross said he created the program to help kids think beyond popular culture. "We want to give them the opportunity to define themselves as young girls and boys in the community," Cross said. "We want them to talk about current events, and topics they don't have the chance to talk about every day, these kids are intelligent."
The lock-in for boys ran Friday from 8:30 p.m. through Saturday morning. A lock-in for girls will be held on Jan. 25.
