Lockdown lifted at Mexico Veterans home
MEXICO - Authorities from a Mexico Veterans Home at 1 Veterans Drive reported a lockdown that was placed on the facility has now been lifted.
The Mexico Public Safety Department said a man called the home around 2:33 p.m. and asked for an employee who was not working at the time of the call.
The man then cursed and said he was coming to the facility with a gun. The home responded by placing itself on lockdown.
KOMU 8 received a tip from a viewer around 3:15 p.m. with reports of the lockdown but concern about why it was put in place.
Around 4:30 p.m. KOMU 8 received confirmation that the lockdown had been lifted.
Mexico Public Safety said it has been in touch with the employee, who is unharmed.
The caller was a former boyfriend of the employee, who was trying to get the employee fired by causing trouble at the home. Mexico police said it believes the ex-boyfriend is no longer in the Mexico area.
