Looking at Sidewalk Options
Residents along West Boulevard agree the city should have a sidewalk along the road. They don't agree on to get the extra space for the sidewalk. The most popular plan is called a "diet road."
"One thing we look at is people park on both sides of the street, but there's not a lot of parking. Would people be willing to give up parking on this side of the street, rather than impacting the front yards and then put sidewalks where the street is. In other words sort of put the street on a diet and gain a little space for pedestrians and people would then have park and walk across the street," Ted Curtis, Bike and Pedestrian Manager for the city of Columbia, said.
