Macon woman charged in death of 4-year-old
MACON - Ashley Hamblen was arrested Monday for endangering the welfare of a child, felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
About three weeks prior, on September 3, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Bourke Street where a 4-year-old child was unresponsive and not breathing. Officers performed CPR until emergency medical services arrived. The child was taken to Women and Children's Hospital in Columbia where the child passed away.
As a result of the investigation, Macon Police officers applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for 31-year-old Ashley Hamblen from Macon on the charges of child endangerment, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in the Macon County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
