Man Accused of Stabbing His Father
CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A southeast Missouri man is jailed after allegedly stabbing his father with a knife, then trying to attack police who responded to the scene. The Sikeston Standard Democrat reports that 20-year-old Joseph Rodgers of Caruthersville faces a variety of charges, including first-degree assault, armed criminal action and assault on a law enforcement officer.
Police were called Tuesday afternoon and found Rodgers' father covered in blood. Officers told Rodgers to get on the ground but he allegedly lunged at an officer, who shot him with a stun gun. Rodgers allegedly continued to fight with police, striking oneofficer in the face, before he was subdued.
The name of Rodgers' father was not released. He was stabbed several times and was treated and released at a hospital.
