Man Arrested After Stolen Car Chase
COLUMBIA - A man led officers of the Columbia Police Department and Boone County Sheriff's Department on a car chase shortly after midnight on Saturday.
Columbia Police received notification of a stolen white 2003 Chevy Tahoe by Sreyvout Sing's sister Friday evening at about 12:25 a.m. in northwest Columbia.
Officers pursued Sing on Highway 163, as well as the area near Barry Road and Tomlin Hill Road, where Sing drove onto private property destroying fences and yards, when the officers heard the car crash.
Sing attempted to escape on foot, while officers as well as two K9 units searched the area several miles into a heavy brush area, but couldn't continue to search due to conditions. Officers contacted neighbors living around the crash site, and once the area was cleared, received a phone call from a resident in the 2300 Block of Highway 163. Sing had come to the caller's house to make a phone call, and the resident reported this suspicious behavior to the police while Sing was still at the house.
Officers arrested Sing a few minutes after the phone call, took him into custody, and arrested him on a slew of charges including Operating a motor vehicle while license revoked and Property Damage in the First Degree.
