COLUMBIA — Officers dispatched to the Days Inn Motel on I-70 Drive Southwest Saturday, Feb. 23, in reference to a disturbance on the parking lot with a knife.
The Columbia Police Department stated in a press release that the investigation revealed a 31-year-old male victim was stabbed several times by suspect Zackery Simmons during a fight on the parking lot.
A personal vehicle transported the male victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the press release.
Officials recovered the knife that was used in the assault during the search warrant of a motel room.
The release stated that Zackery Simmons, 21, was arrested for assault in the first degree and armed criminal action with a bond that has yet to be set.
