Man Arrested for Throwing Beer Bottle at Child, Threatening to Kill Others
COLUMBIA - Officers were dispatched to 1920 West Broadway around 1 a.m. Tuesday for a knife disturbance
Columbia police arrested Terry Leon Butler of Columbia after witnesses said he was chasing people across West Broadway with a knife.
After further investigation, police said Butler got upset during a party at the residence, went upstairs, and threw a beer bottle at a six-year-old child.
Butler then allegedly got into an argument with another male at the party when people were leaving. During the argument, Butler took out a box cutter knife and "threatened to kill everyone." The male decided to leave, but was chased outside by Butler with a knife according to the media release.
Butler was arrested for three accounts of armed criminal action, two counts of first degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of second degree endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of second degree assault, third degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.
This is the second time Butler has been arrested for a crime involving a knife. He was arrested in 2009 by the Boone County Sheriff's Department on Southview Drive for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old.
