Man Charged with Sexual Misconduct Involving 7-Year-Old Relative
JEFFERSON CITY - Court documents obtained Monday reveal disturbing details about alleged sex crimes involving a 7-year-old girl. Prosecutors charged 48-year-old James Weed Jr. Friday with sexual misconduct involving his step-granddaughter.
Detective Anthony Ferrell said he arrested Weed, Jr. at his home Thursday. He faces first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy charges.
Ferrell said the victim's father reported the incident on June 13 after his daughter told him her step-grandfather had rubbed her genitals and told her it was OK for her to rub her own genitals.
Ferrell said the victim reported "Grandpa James" had pulled down her pants more than once and licked or kissed her genitals while she laid on his bed.
According to the father, Ferrell said Weed had been helping babysit the victim for the last several weeks at his home.
Weed was being held in the Cole County Jail Monday on a $300,000 bond.
