Man dead after officer-involved shooting in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police said Wednesday a man in his early 20s died after he was shot by police.
A statement from public information officer Schron Jackson said the officers were patrolling a south St. Louis neighborhood Tuesday afternoon when they saw a man acting suspiciously. Jackson said the man fled and officers chased him on foot.
Jackson said the officers found the man hiding behind a bush. As they attempted to arrest him, a struggle ensued.
The statement said the man then produced a handgun and pointed it toward the officers.
Jackson said one officer fired shots at the suspect, hitting him.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police said his gun was recovered on the scene. Neither officer was injured.
