Man Dies in Single Car Accident

PHELPS COUNTY - A Rolla man died Thursday on Route O after over correcting his vehicle.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident happened around 3 p.m. when David Shackelford, 36, ran his 2006 Ford F150 pickup off the right said of the road. He then attempted to fix it and overcorrected, running off the left side of the road and overturning the vehicle.
Shackelford was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
He was taken to Phelps County Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead around 4 p.m.
This is Troop I's 28th fatal accident in 2012.
