GASCONADE - Homer Steinbeck, 56, of Bland died Thursday morning after his vehicle was struck nearly head on at US 50 near Route P.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Steinbeck died after another vehicle crossed the center line and hit his 2001 Chevrolet Impala nearly head on. Steinbeck's Impala went off the south side of the road, while the other vehicle, a 1997 Saturn SC1, came to rest in the middle of the roadway.
Steinbeck was pronounced dead at the scene by Gasconade County Sheriff Esphorst at 4:55 a.m.
The driver of the Saturn SC1, 20-year-old Selvin Garth of Linn, was flown by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries.
