Man Found Guilty in Domestic Assault Case
JEFFERSON CITY - A judge sentenced 53-year-old Joseph A. Bax to seven years in prison Wednesday for assault. Bax was found guilty of second degree domestic assault, a felony and violation of an order of protection. His trial lasted one day.
On Aug. 15, 2013, authorities say Bax went to his ex-girlfriend's house, violating an order of protection. After attempting to call police, authorities say Bax dragged the woman back to her apartment where she was assaulted. Bax told police, "I know. Eventually she will learn."
Cole County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Steven M. Kretzer said, "I am pleased that we were able to hold the defendant in this case acocuntable for his actions against someone that cared for him". Kretzer went on to say, "The jury acted swiftly in holding him accountable for his actions".
