Man Gets 6 Years for Bounty on Craigslist
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis County man has been sentenced to six years in prison for placing a $1 million bounty on Craigslist for the death of a Maplewood police officer.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that William Lawrence of Maplewood was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis.
Lawrence was angered by the seizure of guns and marijuana after Maplewood police were called to the apartment he shared with his mother.
Lawrence fled to Colorado last fall after pleading guilty to a murder-for-hire charge. He was found about three months later and brought back to the St. Louis area.
Lawrence is the son of a Maplewood officer. His mother says he suffers from bipolar disorder and depression.
