Man gets life sentence for role in Missouri couple's deaths
FORSYTH (AP) - A southwestern Missouri man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the 2011 shooting deaths of a couple.
KOLR-TV reports that 27-year-old Dusty Ray Hicks was sentenced Thursday in Taney County. Hicks pleaded guilty in December to reduced charges of second-degree murder.
Authorities allege that Hicks burglarized the home of Rebecca and Russell Porter in 2011 along with two other men and helped tie up the couple before taking them at gunpoint to remote Taney County. The couple's skeletal remains were found months later.
During Thursday's court hearing, Russell Porter's mother said she forgives Hicks but that now he "has to face God."
Three co-defendants are serving prison terms related to the case, and a fourth defendant awaits trial.
