ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) -- A St. Joseph man surprised prosecutors and others in a Buchanan County courtroom when he said he wanted to plead guilty to a 2010 homicide.
During what was to be a motion hearing Wednesday, Jered Houston told his attorney he wanted to plead guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the 2010 death of 56-year-old Charlie Lonjers.
Lonjers was found shot to death near a home where he worked, hear Longer's house.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports the state has maintained it has forensic evidence connecting Houston to the likely murder weapon.
