Man sentenced to nine years in prison for child sex crimes
BOONE COUNTY - A Columbia man was sentenced Friday to nine years in prison for child sex crimes.
Michael Moore was convicted and sentenced for enticement of a child and attempted statutory rape.
The investigation leading to the arrest began in January when Moore started conversing through email with who he believed to be a 14-year-old Boone County girl, but was actually an undercover detective with the Cyber Crimes Task Force. After exchanging several emails, Moore wanted to meet the child. Moore made arrangements to meet the child at a local gas station, but he was confronted by undercover detectives when he arrived.
The Missouri Enticement law carries a mandatory sentence to serve the full five years without the eligibility of probation or parole.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force is made up of investigators from the Boone County Sheriff's Department and the University of Missouri Police Department.
