COLUMBIA — Officers dispatched to a possible shooting at Sherwood Wednesday night due to a call made to Joint Communications.
Joint Communications advised a male victim who said he had a gunshot wound to the leg, according to a press release from the Columbia Police Department. Officers searched the above residence when they arrived to the area, but he left prior to officers' arrival.
While officers were in the residence, they located evidence of a shooting.
Officials said the investigation revealed approximately three rounds were fired.
The press release stated that one round struck the victim, a second round entered the front door of the victim's residence and a third round entered the neighbor's front door. Four additional rounds were fired from inside the residence.
Authorities later located the male victim at a local hospital emergency room with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim remained uncooperative with officers. There is no suspect information and no suspect vehicle information that can be released at this time.
Officials made no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
