Man With BB Gun Fatally shot by KCPD
The two officers were placed on leave after the fatal shooting of 26 year old Chet Vermillion late last night in northern Kansas City. Police spokesman Captain Rich Lockhart says the officers were conducting surveillance on foot for a person with an outstanding warrant. Lockhart says when the officers approached Vermillion, he threatened them with a small back weapon and was shot. The BB pistol was powered by carbon dioxide. Vermillion had two outstanding traffic warrants. Both officers are 31 years old and have been with the department at least five years.
