Maries County Arrests Kingsford Charcoal Plant Theft Suspect

MARIES COUNTY - The Maries County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant Monday on Maries County Road 312 to recover stolen property and items used in the commission of stealing cases.

Members of the Maries County Sheriff's Office responded to Kingsford Charcoal Plant in Belle early Saturday for a report of a theft and property damage in progress. The suspect was in the process of stealing when Kingsford employees approached him. The suspect fled the scene in possession of the stolen property, which was recovered on a Maries County Road the later that morning. The male suspect recklessly fled running over the curb, causing extensive property damage to the grounds, and then struck and damaged the scale. The male suspect then fled in the truck at a high rate of speed and nearly struck an employee as he was fleeing. This incident was captured on video by the Kingsford security system which allowed members of the sheriff's office to identify the suspect and his vehicle.

Richard Carbaugh

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday the Maries County Sheriff's Office has arrested Richard Carbaugh, 45, of Bland for stealing and other crimes. Carbaugh is currently out on parole and has 13 prior felony convictions. Carbaugh is currently in the Maries County Jail pending warrant application as Maries County Sheriff's Deputies are executing a search warrant on Maries County Road 321. Sheriff's deputies have recovered some stolen property. Warrants for Carbaugh are expected sometime Tuesday.
