Maylee Charged with Three Counts of 1st Degree Murder
FULTON - Murder suspect Joshua Maylee was charged with 3 counts of 1st degree murder Friday in Callaway County Circuit Court. Prosecutors also charged Maylee with one count of first degree assault and one count of felony stealing. Judge Carol England denied Maylee's application for a public defender, but said he could apply again.
Callaway County Prosecutor Robert Sterner said there was some confusion in the courtroom on Friday. "A couple of public defenders were in the courtroom today and there was some confusion as to whether they respresenetd him or not. They went outside and visited with him for a few moments and came back and said they did not represent him."
While Maylee continues to look for representaion, the Mid-Missouri Case Squad ended it's role in the investigation on Friday. Sergeant Robert Bruchsaler said it would be handling the investigation only until the end of the business day.
Bruchsaler said they interviewed Maylee after they took him into custody. "I can't say what happened in the interview. All I can say is he has been interviewed by an investigator of the Major Case Squad," said Bruchsaler.
The judge scheduled a counsel status hearing for November 19th at 9 a.m.
