Mayor's Task Force on Community Violence to Meet Again
COLUMBIA - Mayor Bob McDavid's Task Force on Community Violence will meet for the fourth time at 5:30 Thursday night.
The first item on the agenda for the task force to discuss is about a youth survey. The task force plans to review questions that will be on the survey. The questions will focus on children's concerns about violence in the community and in their lives.
The task force also plans to start considering a time table to carry out other tasks. These tasks include developing mentoring programs, looking at curfew effectiveness, and creating prior offender re-entry programs.
At the last task force meeting on September 25, members learned some citizens feel they can't trust police officers. Citizens told officers they don't like that they only see police officers when bad things happen.
The date of the next task force meeting has not been decided.
