McCluer North Wins Class 5 State Title

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - BJ Young scored 21 points and McCluer North rolled by Troy Buchanan 63-53 in the Missouri Class 5 boys' state championship game Saturday.

The Stars (29-4) jumped out to an early 12-2 lead and held the Trojans to just 6 of 23 shooting and 15 points in the first half.

The title is the school's second in the last five years. Akintoye Okunrinboye had 15 points on 7 of 9 shooting and Jordan Granger added 11 points and seven rebounds for McCluer, who shot 60 percent from the floor.

Derek Deters and Neil Branham each had 13 points to lead Troy(21-11). Benjamin Chaney scored 12 off the bench.
