MDC looks for opinions on Three Creeks conservation
BOONE COUNTY- For the entire month of December, the Missouri Department of Conservation will be asking for public input on the Three Creek Conservation Area's changing management plan.
The MDC has been drafting a new 10-year conservation plan for the Three Creek area since March of 2016, the last time they asked for opinions from Boone County residents.
Thirty-three people responded to the last round of online input, and now the MDC has a first version of changes that could be realized for the nature reserve.
Some issues the MDC is considering for the Three Creek Conservation Area are:
- Repairing trails and creating specific paths for bikers, hikers and horse riders respectively
- Keeping pavilions and benches to a minimum to prevent over-crowding
- Clearer signage for safety, hunting and general park facts and information
In the drafted plan, the MDC also laid out suggestions it has received that are unfeasible. Its consistent response to advice like reopening closed trails, adding potable water spigots or expanding parking is lack of resources and "limited maintenance capacity."
Anyone can give input for what changes they'd like to see for the Three Creek area on the MDC's website.
