Men Arrested for Growing Marijuana and Setting Fire
MACON COUNTY - The Macon County Sheriff's Department made several arrests over the past two days after investigating a domestic assault and a fire incident in Atlanta, Mo.
Sheriff's deputies said they arrested 46-year-old Todd Becker, of Atlanta, for manufacturing and producing a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Macon County Sheriff's Department said it responded to an alleged domestic assault at Atterberry Street at 11:45 Saturday morning.
According to the Sheriff's Department, the alleged victim said Becker was growing marijuana plants inside their house. During the investigation, Sheriff's deputies found 24 actively growing marijuana plants, two separate growing operations and drug paraphernalia located inside the suspect's residence.
Deputies said they took Becker to the Macon County Jail with a $45,000 bond.
The Macon County Sheriff's Department also made two arrests following an investigating of an intentional structure fire in Atlanta.
Sheriff's deputies said they arrested 22-year-old James Fisher, of Atlanta, for second-degree arson, second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and stealing Friday afternoon.
The following day, Sheriff's deputies, with the assistance of the Kirksville Police Department and the State Fire Marshal's Office, also arrested Charles Reed on four active Macon County warrants, including second-degree arson, second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and non-payment of child support.
Authorities said Fisher is being held in the Macon County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond, and Reed is being held in the Macon County Jail on bonds totaling $15,000.
