Mental Health Board Considers Tax
The Boone County Mental Health Board of Trustees held a forum to talk about how to deal with the lack of resources for people with mental illnesses. One option for raising money is through a property tax. County residents said they consider this a logical solution, and the Board of Trustees said it's considering the tax plan.
"It obviously came up in conversation tonight as something that the board will take on, because that is one of its charges, is looking at the needs and then looking at how do you fund those needs and provide for those needs in the community," Michele Kennett from the Board of Mental Health said.
Eleven other counties in Missouri have created a property tax to pay for more mental health resources.
