HUNTSVILLE - A Randolph County judge sentenced a Mexico mother to 4 years after she locked her three children in a room covered in feces.

A judge granted a change of venue request for April Davis after the case originated in Audrain County Court.

Mexico police found her three children living in an "unsanitary home" off of West Breckenridge in Mexico, Mo. The state's children's division received a report in November 2013 about the conditions of the home and contacted the Mexico Public Safety Department.

According to the department, it did an additional investigation and sent the information to the Audrain County prosecutor's office. The prosecutor filed a warrant for 27-year-old Davis, which was later served by the Audrain County Sheriff's Department on Jan. 8.

Davis faced three counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and three counts of abuse or neglect of a child. All of the charges are felonies.
