Meyer Wins Second Straight Meet, Owls Claim 12th At Southern Stampede

JOPLIN - For the second consecutive meet, Ryan Meyer captured the individual honors, racing to the championship at the First To The Finish Southern Stampede. Through a steady rain and sloppy conditions, he clocked a time of 25:14.63 on the 8K course. As a team, the Owls finished 12th out of 21 squads in the college division.

Kaleb Wilson picked up a top-20 finish in his college debut, posting a time of 26:27.50 to take 18th in the 195-runner field. Corey Samples clocked a time of 28:25.19 over the 8K course, good for 96th, with Zach Bryant finishing in 28:37.58 for 108th place.

Rounding out the team scoring for the Owls was Brandon Buchanan, posting a time of 29:10.35 for 129th. Jacob Grass was just 10 seconds behind Buchanan at 29:20.09, with Reid Schmit coming in at 29:30.11.

Tyler Jones also competed for the Owls, recording a time of 32.43.86 in the meet.

Next up for the Owls is the ESU Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Emporia State University. The meet is scheduled for September 28, 2012.
