SALINE COUNTY - Sixty members of the Missouri Baptist Convention will travel to New York to bring aid to victims of Hurricane Sandy. The group headed out early Friday morning with two semi-trucks packed with supplies that will assist victims in their effort to rebuild their homes and their lives.
Perhaps making the largest impact, the feeding kitchens brought by the Missouri Baptist Convention will cook 35,000 meals per day. The volunteers will also bring three shower trailers, two chain saw units, two mudout units, a generator, forklift and an ATV.
The 60 volunteers will be stationed in Middletown, NY for at least 10 days. The length of their stay in New York will depend on how much assistance is needed.
