Midwifery Law Struck Down
Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce says the midwife language went beyond the purpose of the health insurance bill it was secretly attached to late in the legislative session. She issued a permanent injunction barring the midwifery law from taking effect as scheduled August 28th. She allowed the rest of the health insurance bill to stand.
A midwives association is vowing to appeal to the state Supreme Court.
