JEFFERSON CITY - Lincoln University Athletic Director Betty Kemna announced the hiring of Mike DeMilia as the eighth head baseball coach in school history Tuesday.
"We are very excited to welcome Mike to Lincoln University," Kemna said. "We believe his passion for the game of baseball, his understanding of the sport and his knowledge of the MIAA will take Lincoln to the next level."
DeMilia spent the past three seasons as the assistant coach at Truman State University, guiding the Bulldogs in their transition from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association to the Great Lakes Valley Conference. In the spring, DeMilia led the Bulldogs to a program-record 26 wins and a berth in the GLVC postseason tournament.
DeMilia has a track record of developing talent on the diamond. Before his time at Truman State, DeMilia was the assistant coach at Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska, where he coached two all-state position players and three All-Omaha Metro Area players.
DeMilia described his vision for the type of playing style he wants the Blue Tigers to adopt.
"At some point, I want to bring speed to our team and steal bases, hit-and-run, things like that," DeMilia said. "You're going to see kids fighting hard, playing as a team, playing with enthusiasm."
