Minnesota Surpasses Missouri

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- The No. 72 Tigers faced the No. 71 Minnesota Gophers at the Baseline Tennis Center on Friday. The freshman duo of Alex Clark and Ashleigh Chiaf fought hard to overcome Julia Courter and Tereza Brichacova but were defeated 8-4.

It was a similar situation for Annemijn Koenen and Rachel Stuhlmann when Natallia Pintusava and Magdalena Wiecha beat the Tiger partners 8-5. This win gave the Gophers a 1-0 lead over the Tigers. The senior duo of Nina Pantic and Jamie Mera battled Alexa Palen and Yulia Umanets and came out as victors 8-4.

In singles competition, No. 77 sophomore Stuhlmann was able to keep her winning streak alive when she defeated Julia Courter on Court No. 3 in just two sets 6-3, 6-2. On Court No. 1, Pantic was overcome 6-3, 6-2. Koenen fought hard against Brichacova but she just fell short 6-3, 7-6(5). Pintusava beat junior Maria Christensen 6-4, 6-3 and Doron Muravnik was able to come out with a win against Clark 6-2, 6-2.

The Tigers will look for a win against Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Minneapolis. Missouri is now 4-4 in spring competition.
