Missing Child Returns Home to Jeff City
The entire process was hard on Debrodie and her family, but they were ecstatic when Abraham was found.
"Oh my gosh, my sister called me, and she couldn't even talk, she was just like 'Helen, Helen, you know the Maryland Police Department called me,' and I'm like, slow down. Then she told me what had happened and it's just a miracle," said Helen Burns, Debrodie's sister.
Now that he's back, things are starting to return to normal, but Abraham still shows some effects from the kidnapping.
"I mean he spoke perfect English, he could talk. Whenever he talks now, all he says is jibber jabbish," said Debrodie.
Debrodie says she knew Abraham would come back.
"I always knew in my heart that he would. I mean, one day, five years, it really doesn't matter as long as he's back," said Debrodie.
Abraham was found in Maryland after a woman looked at the Center for Missing and Exploited Children's website, and tipped off authorities.
The ex-boyfriend, Felipe Monroy, is waiting extradition back to Cole County, where he'll face charges.
