Missing Woman Found and Hospitalized
Amber Erickson's mother called the Callaway County Sheriff's Department on Monday night to report her 25-year-old daughter missing. Erickson was helping her step-uncle move some things, but she never came home.
A relative found the step-uncle's van abandoned north of Centertown near route NN. The National Guard, Cole County Sheriff's Department and FBI helped search a 61-acre, heavily-wooded area for Erickson and her step-uncle.
About noon Tuesday, an injured Erickson came to a house in the area. Authorities said she walked there, then they rushed her to St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
Authorities also found her step-uncle's dead body. They said he apparently shot himself.
"We believe that there's potentially some drug manufacturing involvement," said Cole County Sheriff Greg White.
Authorities said Erickson left willingly with her step-uncle, but they don't see Erickson linked to any drug manufacturing or his death.
