Missouri baseball swept by Florida following Sunday loss
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Missouri baseball team scored more runs in the sixth inning of Sunday's contest against Florida than it had in either of the first two games of the series.
It was not enough, however, as the Tigers fell to the Gators 7-5.
After scoring three runs and two runs in games one and two respectively, the Tigers put up a four-spot in the sixth inning of game three.
Center fielder Jake Ring and first baseman Zach Lavy each had an RBI double in the inning, and designated hitter Brian Sharp added an RBI single.
The four-run sixth would've been more important to the game if the Tigers hadn't dug themselves into a 6-1 hole heading into the inning.
Five of those first six Gator runs were charged to Missouri starter Austin Tribby. The senior only made it three innings before getting pulled.
Florida center fielder Buddy Reed and catcher Mike Rivera each had two RBI for the Gators.
After the loss, Missouri falls to 14-9 on the season. Next up, the Tigers will return home for a three-game series against Vanderbilt starting Friday, March 25 at 6:00 p.m.
