Missouri Baseball Takes Series From Baylor
WACO, TX - It took them nearly a month, but the Missouri Tigers baseball team won it's first Big 12 series of the season today when they took down the Baylor Bears. The 10-1 victory marked the Tigers' biggest conference victory, and the first time Mizzou has scored double digit runs on a Big 12 team since May 23rd, 2010 against the Texas Longhorns.
At the plate the Tigers were led by Jonah Schmidt. The senior went 5-5 marking the first five hit game by a Mizzou hitter this season.
Meanwhile, Missouri pitcher Matt Stites delivered a dominant performance. The right handed junior went seven and two thirds innings striking out nine and allowing just one run on four hits.
Mizzou hopes to parlay this effort into a pair of victories this week when they take on Eastern Illinois on Tuesday, and Missouri State on Wednesday.
